Creativity: Artist Scrapbook 5

as14I don’t remember what the purchase was – it’s 9 years ago – but I kept the nice little note that came with the parcel. There are several similar handwritten notes in the scrapbook, all “Magic!” in some way. Apart from anything else, I like the different handwriting, a contrast to mine. The horoscope is all about “change” and how great it can be… You can see the three holes punched in the side of the page, and the string that binds them. The fancy string in the centre hole is from a packet of Indian incense.

scrapbook extraThe reverse of the page has another note, another handwriting. Kurt ‘Up Close’ was t-shirt I’d ordered – they sent a different one, which I sent back, enclosing a photocopy of an article on meditation…hence His Holiness, the Dalai Lama. Some drawing, a poem and a sticker of one of my drawings complete the page. There are a variety of ways to keep pages together, some of them complex and very beautiful. The advantage with the sturdy string is that it is simple to untie it and add in more pages at will, ideal for a project such as this that is made up as you go…

The list in the background here is of albums I wanted to add to my collection – most of them crossed off. Still don’t have that Earth  album… An Amnesty International sticker complements the famous quote from Gandhi. The other quote is from Soren Keirkgaard –

“To venture causes anxiety, but not to venture is to lose oneself.”

In Australia, a similar sentiment is expressed by –

“Have a go, ya mug”…
