Daily Prompt: Health

If I could create a single, painless cure for just one thing…what would I choose? My first thought was ‘heartache’ – surely curing that would have a knock-on effect and cure a few other problems as well…Which reminded me of a favourite Michael Leunig cartoon, which must have appeared 17 or 18 years ago. He proposed that the cure for Life-ache was to lie underneath a tree, and watch the leaves. I’ve tried it, not as often as I should maybe, and it definitely has some placebo effect…

And here is one of his wonderful poems/prayers.

God help us to change.
To change ourselves and to change our world.
To know the need for it. To deal with the pain of it.
To feel the joy of it.
To undertake the journey without understanding the destination.
The art of gentle revolution.

Amen.

I believe it’s that “gentle revolution” that will do the most to bring health to all of us.
